I am a regimented person. I appreciate a schedule, a timeline, a plan. However on a recent photoshop with friend/ photographer Lanisha Cole I realized sometimes the best moments are unplanned.
While she was testing the lighting, Lanisha snapped a few candid shots of me. I knew they were just to help her adjust the lens & lighting so I wasn’t really paying attention. I was in the middle of changing (hence the ball gown over jeggings).
I saw the photos and realized there is beauty in spontaneity. You can really capture a moment and create a lasting memory. I know exactly who I was texting and what I was thinking about in these photos. So, thank you Lanisha for reminding me we don’t always have perfect moments and sometimes the best moments are the ones we least expect.
When I’m with my kids I try to calculate and create the perfect picture. They’re carefully positioned and posed. Now I realize sometimes you just need to go with the moment. There is beauty and lasting memories in imperfection.
