Lupita Nyong’o is beautiful in so many ways.
She was born in Mexico, raised in Kenya, speaks 4 languages, and holds a Master’s Degree from Yale. Upon graduating with her MFA, her debut performance in 12 Years A Slave earned an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.
Not bad for her first job out of college.
Lupita became the 6th African American female to win an Academy Award in this category joining Hattie McDaniel (Gone With The Wind), Whoopi Goldberg (Ghost), Jennifer Hudson (Dreamgirls), Mo’nique (Precious), and Octavia Spencer (The Help).
She recently posted a jaw dropping Instagram pic titled United Colors Of Lupita showing her in a beautiful array of rainbow colored dresses she wore during awards season.
Lupita continues to amaze and inspire as she accepted an award for Best Breakthrough Performance at the seventh annual Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon hosted by Essence magazine. She delivered a powerful speech on the concept of beauty.
I love seeing her using her platform to encourage young women that beauty has many shades but begins inside. A great message for all children to hear.
