I’m not a fan of traveling during the holidays. With 2 active boys, any chance of spreading cheer and joy after a long flight would be Bahumbug at best. To compromise, we like to do local getaways, Staycays, as they’re called.
To get in the holiday spirit and indulge in a little luxury we ventured to the Four Seasons Westlake Village. This Four Seasons property opened in 2006. With a little research, you can find a great deal online. My kids fell in love with it.
The hotel design is easily navigated which put my boys at ease and made them instantly comfortable. We were greeted by a tastefully decorated holiday lobby and peppermint truffles. Great start!
My favorite thing about the Four Seasons is their commitment to children and service. It is such a comforting feeling to be at a luxury property and feel like you and your kids are WELCOMED to be there. The Four Seasons Westlake Village goes above and beyond to make kids feel special.
Upon arrival Mo and B were given cute snowball stuffed animals (which were later used as weapons by the boys, but that’s another story). Complimentary cookies and Martinelli’s were waiting for them in the room.
The best part of welcoming the kids definitely goes to the hotel “arcade”. The huge play area is perfect for kids young and old. It’s complete with pool table, table tennis, air hockey, fooseball, wifi computers, large screen tvs, and a theater room w/reclining chairs to enjoy Playstation and XBox. Oh, and if you’re hungry there’s an awesome vending machine as well as kid menus to order from at the touch of a button.
SWEET!!! The boys couldn’t believe it.
There’s also a fitness center, heated indoor pool (complete w/swim noodles), and a jacuzzi just steps from the Arcade.
My favorite part was sitting on the Waterfall Lawn. It’s absolutely breathtaking and felt more like an exotic escape than a SoCal getaway.
As if this couldn’t be topped, The Four Seasons Westlake Village had a holiday celebration, “Let It Snow“. Part of the property was transformed into a Winter Wonderland. It is open to the public for $5 per person and free to hotel guests. It’s truly a bargain that comes complete with:
Santa photo op in a beautiful sled
Smores kit w/marshmallows, Hershey’s, and graham crackers
Appearance by Frosty the Snowman and human Elf on the Shelf
Unlimited hot chocolate & apple cider
“Snowfall” twice an hour
The boys enjoyed getting dressed up and seeing all the holiday decor. There was also a food menu to order hot dogs, gourmet pizza, chicken nuggets, mac n cheese, and other kid faves. For the adults, a full bar was available.
We capped off a fun filled day with book readings in our room. Just before bed, The Four Seasons Elf on the Shelf stopped by to read Christmas books to the boys and then tucked them in. It was truly an experience for us all to remember and the start of a great holiday tradition!
