There is no doubt the power of McDonald’s with kids.
Some youngins recognize Ronald McDonald and the golden arches before they do the alphabet.
McDonald’s seems to have a keen sense of tailoring their menu for each market.
McD’s has made recent attempts for healthier menu choices for kids altering their Happy Meal menu.
Now, they are going vegetarian in India.
Beef is considered sacred by Hindus, and pork is considered unclean by Muslims. Offering vegetarian items at their India chain seems like a good idea.
The new restaurant is slated to open next year near the Golden Temple in the Sikh holy city of Amritsar in northern India. The consumption of meat is already prohibited by religious authorities at the shrine.
A 2nd meat free MackyD’s will open in Katra near the Vaishno Devi cave shrine in Indian Kashmir, which is revered by Hindu pilgrims.
Vegetarian dishes in India will include the McAloo Tikki burger that uses a spicy fried potato-based patty and is its top seller. Other veggie dishes include the McVeggie.
For those wanting meat there are chicken burgers such as the Maharaja Mac or the Fillet o-Fish.
I haven’t had a Chicken McNugget since the whole pink putty thing, but their fries will always reign tops in my book.
Who knows if we’ll be saying “WHERE’S THE BEEF” in the U.S, but there are more vegetarian McDonald’s in consideration.
