Olympic Moms

Gabby Douglas has made history at the London 2012 Olympics.

She’s the 1st U.S gymnast to win Gold medals in both the Individual and Team All-Around competitions in the same Olympics.

She’s also the 1st African American All Around champion in OLYMPIC HISTORY!!!

When she was just 14, Gabby’s mom, Natalie Hawkins made a huge sacrifice.

Gabster left her home in Virginia Beach, VA to move 1,200 miles to West Des Moines, Iowa.
In Iowa, she lived with host family Missy and Travis Parton. Here, she trained with Liang Chow, who coached the Olympic gold medalist Shawn Johnson.

That definitely couldn’t have been easy for Gabby’s mom, her 2 sisters and brother. A very grown up decision for a 14 year old.
Everyone is saying it’s no coincidence that Gabby’s last name rearranged (DOUGLAS) is USA GOLD. 🙂
Hats off to Natalie Hawkins for raising an Olympic champion!
Another mom making Olympic headlines is Ike Lochte, mom of chiseled abs 11 time Olympic Medalist, Ryan Hottie Lockte.
In an interview with USA Today, she had a misuse of words about her son’s love life that shook the media world.
“He goes out on one-night stands. He’s not able to give fully to a relationship because he’s always on the go.”
After the interview comment went viral, she cleared up her words saying:
“All I wanted to say is that he’s so sensitive about not wanting to hurt a girl dating, so he just goes and dates and takes out a girl for maybe one or two dates and doesn’t have a relationship because he doesn’t have (time) and it’s not fair to the women.”
“I thought that was so sensitive, but then they turned it around. I’m not used to this. … What kind of mom is going to say that (about her son having one-night stands)? Especially being a mom and having two daughters.”This sounds like something that would totally happen to me. LolGotta love #TeamUSA moms. USA! USA! USA!
