Tatted Teens

It has been reported Justin Beiber has a tattoo.

Kinda weird since he’s only 16. It’s a small bird on his left hip.

Since he’s 16, you might think this is symbolic for his boyish bird chest. Try again.

He kinda looks like a bird? Nope…

It reportedly represents “bird in flight”.  Many of Beiber’s relatives have the symbol on their wrists. Perhaps it is somewhat of a Bieber family tradition.

Another pop singer, Miley Cyrus got a tat when she was 17 years old. She has the words “Just Breath” tatted on her left rib cage.

The tattoo is a tribute to her friend Vanessa who died of the lung disease cystic fibrosis in 2007 and her grandfathers who both died of lung cancer.

Miley says of her 1st tattoo:

It reminds me not to take things for granted. I mean breathing – that was something none of them could do, the most basic thing. And I put it near my heart, because that is where they will always be.”

She has since gone on to get 6 more tattoos.

Ok, so I love tats. I like tats on moms, sexy men, celebs , you name it…but kids???? Hmm…..

Obviously this is a permanent thing. My concern is how young kids look up to these pop stars. Having 2 young boys, when they see guys in the NBA with tattoos it’s one thing, but seeing someone closer to their age makes the issue of getting a tattoo slightly more desireable.

I realize times have changed and tattoos are more popular and prominent than when I was growing up. Seeing 16 and 17 year old popstars with tats makes me wonder if this is where it starts.
