Nine year old Anaiah Rucker saved her five year old sister’s life.
On a rainy morning in Madison, GA, sisters Anaiah and Camry were crossing the street to catch their school bus. An oncoming truck came and Anaiah pushed her unsuspecting sister out of the way to avoid being hit by the vehicle.
In the process of saving her sister, Anaiah almost died. She was hit and suffered a broken neck, lost a kidney, has spleen damage and broke both legs. Her left leg had to be amputated. She spent a month in the hospital recovering and has a long road of rehab ahead.
But she and her sister are alive. Anaiah doesn’t think she’s a hero. She proclaims her love for her little sis and says her sister “was too young to be hit like this, and if she got hit she wouldn’t hardly be alive. She would be probably gone forever.”
I am in awe of this selfess act and show of sisterly love. Hoping all of Anaiah’s dreams come true and wishing her a speedy recovery.
