Better Than SEX Cake Recipe

If you know me, then you know the one thing I ♥LOVE♥ is…….cake! 😉

Me and the boys have so much fun baking then enjoying the fruits of our labor.

The Better Than Sex Cake is a fun easy recipe (of course I tell the kids it’s called “yellow cake”). I made one the other night for a GNO dinner. The title itself is always a hit, and the cake is REALLY good.

Better Than Sex Cake has always been around in the South, but seems to have gained popularity when Food Network personality, Paula Deen (chef and mother of 2 boys) made it on her show. Her recipe is a little different from mine. I’m not trying to brag (patting self on back) but my recipe is just a little sweeter and better.

Try making this for your next mommy gathering. I know the girls will love it and the title alone will prolly spark some great convos.

BETTER THAN SEX CAKE

1 box yellow cake

1 can (20 ounces) crushed pineapple

1 cup granulated sugar

1 box vanilla pudding (plus pudding mix ingredients)

1 carton Cool Whip

1/2 cup powdered sugar

6 ounces softened cream cheese

coconut

nuts (optional)

*prepare cake per directions on box in 9×13 pan. Make sure your pan isn’t too shallow bc the cake will rise and you need room to add the pudding and cream topping.

*Combine (undrained) pineapple and granulated sugar in a saucepan. Heat til sugar dissolves.

*Remove cake from oven, punch holes with a fork, and pour pineapple mix over it.

*Make pudding, after it thickens, spoon on top of cake.

*Use a hand mixer on low to combine cream cheese, whipped cream, and powdered sugar. Spoon over pudding mix careful NOT to blend the two.

*Top with coconut and nuts (if desired)

*Chill in fridge

*Devour

Just a few things:

This cake is best chilled so make sure you refrigerate it a couple hours before eating.

I must warn you that it is even better and MORE moist the next day after the pineapple mix and pudding marinate into the cake.

You can make the pudding and whipped cream topping while the cake is cooking.

Add as much or little coconut as desired.

I haven’t seen any other recipes that use nuts (my nut of choice is pecan), but it really adds great flavor with the coconut and pineapple. Besides, what is a Better Than Sex Cake without a few nuts?!?!?
