Michael Jackson Memorial

I had the honor of attending the Michael Jackson Memorial at The Staples Center in Los Angeles. It’s still hard to convey my feelings into words, but here are some photos I wanted to share.

The program given to everyone at the Memorial Service

Nokia Theater, across the street from Staples Center

Paparazzi was stationed around Nokia, but nothing at Staples, it helped the Memorial seem more dignified.

LAPD did a great job keeping media, vendors, and fans away from the Staples Center.

The Wall fans could sign outside of Staples Center

Lionel Richie performing. He looked and sounded amazing.

The casket

Stevie Wonder singing and playing the piano.

Usher’s emotional and amazing performance

The finale song

Inside the Staples Center. I was probably the only idiot smiling.

Great photos- so cool that you were able to be there. Wondering if everyone there lost it like I did when Usher finished performing. RIP- MJ.

Usher was definitely one of the most emotional performances. It was one of my favorites, and very moving. He really affected the crowd.

those pictures look so real. Especiallly the one where he is holding the microphone. I had to do a double take. what did it feel like when the casket came in?

  10. headhotmama says:

I didn’t know the casket would be in the room, so I was extremely surprised when it came in. It was SO cold inside the arena the whole time. I had a huge chill the whole service.

WOW Nora!  Thanks for sharing that special moment with us.  I also thought the ceremony was simply beautiful!  I could feel the love.  I favorite points were equal to yours, I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Paris, because to be strong enough to get in front of all those people to state her love for her father was unbelievable!  It is a true testament to what she will become.  Thanks again for sharing.

Paris was so brave. I thought the ceremony was over so I was walking to my car and didn’t see her part until I got home. That’s what I get, always trying to beat the traffic and crowd. But, I agree. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for her and her brothers. Her professed love says a lot about Michael. I had no idea.
