Birthday Dress

A couple of weeks ago I had the following conversation with my mom:
Mom: So, are you going to write anything special on your blog for June 14?
Me: Um, dunno. What day is it on?
Mom: It’s a Sunday.
Me: Nah. I usually don’t write on Saturday and Sunday.
Mom: (sigh, grumble, hiss) Oh.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!
As a mom, I am slowly mastering the skill that many moms eventually perfect: the art of passive aggressiveness.
(I sure wish I had a nice pretty dress and fancy new shoes to wear in honor of your birthday)

Ahhh…how sweet. Happy birthday to your mom.
Cute pic. Is that you? Hope your mom has a special day.
Happy Birthday to Hot Mama’s mama!
I love the “subtle” hint of dress and shoes. You’re getting the passive aggressive pretty good.
I had the most wonderful birthday today. Thanks for everything including a nice write up with the most adorable picture of my little angel in the brand new blue/white dress. Hm, most mothers I know are charmingly aggressive and delightfully assertive. Passive-aggressive? I only saw this in my former working environment.
