I will do hair color in a box.
I’ve had my hair cut in a mall (ok, it was Aveda, but that’s still a mall cut).
I‘ve gotten a massage on the streets in Bangkok.
There are many services that I’m not picky about or I don’t pay a lot of money for. BUT, when it comes to my eyebrows, I go to the best.
Seriously, if you’ve never had your brows done by a professional, I order you to do it for yourself just once. Going to a bootleg nail salon and using the girl that scrubs your corns to wax your brows does not count. Trust me, I’ve been there.
I never realized what a difference a true professional eyebrow waxing makes.
There is only one place to go: ANASTASIA Beverly Hills!
If you live in LA, you already know about Anastasia’s or probably go there. It’s like an LA beauty landmark. They do EVERYONE in Hollywood’s eyebrows: Heidi Klum, Oprah, Resse Witherspoon, and Halle Berry.
Their wall of fame looks like an issue of US Weekly. Every A-list (and B-list) celebrity, supermodel, and singer goes there.
At first I was skeptical to go to a place “everyone in Hollywood” goes to because 9 times out of 10, it’s just hype. But Anastasia’s is the real deal! Check out my before and after shot (excuse my oily T-zone).
I don’t wear make-up (not because I think I’m “all that”, I just don’t have the time or know how). So, splurging on my eyebrows is my one beauty treat. After a fresh wax, I don’t care how many days I’ve gone without washing my hair, or how much baby food is on my shirt. I feel good knowing my brows are perfectly shaped.
It’s not cheap though. The shaping is $45 plus I pay $20 for the tint, but I look at it like this: I go once a month (if I’m lucky) so that breaks down to about $2/day. Consider it my morning cup of Joe sacrifice.
My girl is Nicoletta. She takes care of my eyebrows and nurtures them with love, but also does the same for me. She’s like an esthetician and psychiatrist. She is a genuine caring person and I look forward to seeing and chatting with her just as much as getting my unibrow waxed. Though she has a hot roster of celebrity clients, she always remembers what is going on with me and my little ole boring life.
Their staff is amazing and talented, but they are also NICE, which yes, you should expect that when you’re paying for a service. But it’s not always the case in Beverly Hills. Anastasia’s front desk staff is SO nice and cordial. They have seen Morris and Bronson a few times and always ask about them when I return.
If you’re not in LA, you can buy their products online or in Nordstrom and Sephora. But there is nothing like the Anastasia experience.
