Carol Brady, Cindy Walsh, and Donna Reed are moms of the past. Let’s face it, we’re redefining motherhood. Moms of the 21st century are hip, hot, and know how to have a good time. At the same time, we pride ourselves on commitment, selflessness, and sacrifice to provide the finest opportunities for our children. I realize there is no greater gift than a mother’s unconditional love. I developed an extreme respect for every mom’s crusade to give her children the world beyond. Thus, Hot Mama was created to connect and showcase moms from different backgrounds and lifestyles with different theories on motherhood and child rearing, but all with the same goal: to raise children the best we can. Being a Hot Mama has nothing to do with physical appearance, but everything to do with the fact that we are putting all our love and effort into raising our children while being smart, stylish, and strong.
After working 8 years in the medical profession, I thought I had seen it all. But nothing would prepare me for the job I started May 22, 2004: stay at home mom. I quickly understood why many call this the “hardest job in America.” For the first time in my life I was embarking on a career that I was ill prepared for. There was no orientation, handbook or training class.
This is the story of my motherhood journey with my 2 boys, Morris and Bronson. I grew up in Atlanta, GA ( I still have a slight Southern twang to prove it) but have lived in LA for the past 10 years (LA-Los Angeles, not LA-Louisiana, although I have left my mark in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Metairie). I try to see the good in everyone (until you show me otherwise). But sometimes as a parent we have to dig REALLY deep (like under poop, pureed carrots, bug collections, and endless piles of laundry) to rekindle that good and ourselves. I’m not a writer. Taking AP Creative Writing in high school is the extent of my training. I’m just a mom trying to figure this all out. I love to meet moms and discuss this amazing journey of teething, tantrums, and sometimes endless days. As a self professed guy’s girl, I’m so honored to be a part of the mom sorority now. Please help me to honor the incessant hard work and love all moms put into their children. We are smart, stylish, and strong-that’s what being a Hot Mama is all about!
